Sink Drain Pipe Failure in New SMB

We have a 3 month old SMB Sprinter build. Noticed a minor flood and discovered the drain pipe from the sink to the gray water tank had failed. It appears that two pipes were improperly connected. YouTube video link below showing the failure. Looking for any guidance on whether this looks like a poor install or something else. Thanks

Hi Fitz, did you try to copy and past it? I tried in a few browsers and all worked. Here's another option: . Thanks for trying!

Ummm...don’t tell me that is true. I can’t even begin to guess what was attempted there. Looks like an ABS 90 that someone attempted to glue to a nylon fitting with some type of glue. Doesn’t even look like the nylon fitting would slip into the 90. From my experience the two won’t even glue up together for very long.

Can you spin off the white fitting on the outside of the tank? I’m thinking that may be a threaded bulkhead fitting. Regardless, it’s a bad install that needs to be removed and put back right.

Looks like bulkhead is glued in.I don’t know what the bulkhead looks like but if an abs mpt could thread into the bulkhead then you could glue in a piece of abs pipe for a flush mount if the mpt and 90 are close. I can’t really see how much room your working with but space looks to be an issue...maybe that’s what caused the poor choice in installation.

It’s a very small space, although my configuration (RB50) is pretty much standard so I would not have expected any install issues. Hoping to talk to SMB tomorrow to get an explanation and will update.

After seeing your video, I took a photo of how Sportsmobile West did my gray water drain (picked up my Sprinter April 2017). My plumbing looks like yours (90 degree ABS elbow glued to some sort of white plastic attached to the tank). So far no leak, but this is another point of failure I will keep an eye on.

Is it possible that your 90 degree elbow got hit from under the chassis and pulled it away from the gray water tank?

Did the “minor”’leak get water below the Loncoin flooring surface such that it reached the plywood flooring, or worse, that it reached the metal van flooring?

I don’t think anything hit this section. We only keep a pot and pan set, in a case, and cleaning supplies under here. Nothing that would have enough weight to do any damage. Also, the two trips I took prior to noticing the leak were on smooth roads. In any case, I can’t imagine how gluing these two pieces end to end won’t fail at some point.
