I reached out, he tells me the bike carrier has been used. I don't think it's been modified as I would want it though.

Welding with aluminum requires a touch more expertise than with iron and steel, but there are plenty of qualified welders who could do your modification. They don't really have to do much building, just adapt a couple of existing things to each other.

Tom,

I have a large list of local Northwest yacht businesses from years of sailboat ownership, which pretty much translates into various work I want done on the van.

I've got a metal guy in Bellingham who can pretty much weld anything, has the TIG welding equipment needed, and his work comes near to classifying as artwork. All at a price, of course...

I've pretty much gone from spending too much money on boats to spending too much money on the "land yacht"...

If you get a quote for an attachment to the aluminess bike rack swing arm, it would be great to post here since many others seem to be looking for the same thing. Sounds promising!

I absolutely will post if/when I do the project. I don't pick the van back up until February from Sportsmobile Fresno for it's current flarepod modification, so don't know that the project will be completed or even quoted until early Spring.
