Sprinter RB Penthouse

Ordered a Sprinter RB with Penthouse roof in mid April and it should start production this week. We were at the Fresno SMB factory then and saw 3 or 4 Sprinters with the roof cut out and 1 with a complete Penthouse. Ours probably won't be done until late July or August. Anyone have one closer to completion?

It's great to see more Sprinters on the line!! We have one of the Sprinter RBs with a penthouse roof that you saw on the line.

Hopefully, your build will move along faster than ours has. It's been a long wait (since October) for delivery of the Sprinter in January (wrong one) and then in February (right one). Then, they needed to complete the penthouse roof prototype. That seemed to take most of February and March to get the design right. Now that the Qatar vans are nearly done, the production line should speed up.

We're going with the 150S (or 50 in the Ford/Chevy vans). It's scheduled for completion in mid to late June. Can't wait!!

So far, after a month on the line, we still have a convertible roof, but the pre-wiring, insulation, and interior walls are complete. We've posted a few of the build photos in our album and will add more as we get them. You may want to sort ascending to get the beginning of the build.

Good luck with yours!!

The photos are great. I have no doubt you'll get better mileage with the pent house over the hi roof.

I'm still reading the owners manual from SMB and Dodge trying to figure things out.

Regards,

Keith

I was up in Fresno on monday to pick up my van. The entire front parking lot was full of 6-8 sprinters in various stages of completion. Many with the PH roof already completed. I was told that the volume of sprinter conversions has risen substantially, but that the standard Ford 4x4 SMB package is still the vast majority of their volume. Also, SMB west has been working weekends for months to get the Qatar vans done by the end May shipping deadline. Once they are out the door, the flow rate should accelerate.

Your Sprinter is looking good! And it has a roof! This is when the build starts to get exciting. Things are happening and its getting close. Thanks for the pics. I just wish mine was that far along.

The penthouse roof is installed. Also working on the electrical and water systems. A few more pics in the album.

Great pictures. The van looks great! And the gas mileage is wonderful.

Put a 4x4 on it and it will dominate the lines.

Our build is moving along, but it seems to be taking forever! The wait is hard, but at least we finally have a delivery date, July 7th. Hooray!! We've added a couple of photos to the album.

We also read that Peter(?) had taken delivery of a Sprinter with a penthouse roof from SMB-West in May. We're wondering if you monitor the Forum; and if so, how are you liking your new SMB?
