Tapping into MB rear doors courtesy light

With an SMB PH to installed, the OEM rear door courtesy light is covered up by paneling. I would like to tap into that courtesy light 4-wire circuit to install an LED strip light which would turn on when rear doors are opened and delay shutoff when doors are closed just like the OEM light. My limited electrical skills aren't helping. Here's a picture of the clip to the light:.

Here's a picture of the back of the courtesy light:

The 'door open' circuit appears to be the two center wires and one outboard wire. The 'always on' circuit is the same two center wires and the opposite outboard wire.

When I close what appears to be the correct circuit, the LEDs barely light up. The LED is a 12v, 12" dual phase light:

Any suggestions to get this operational would be appreciated.

OK, I figured this out. I found a festoon type LED connector on FleaBay that is plug and play. Rather than use the LED that came with I will wire in my own light. Now I have a rear courtesy light that was previously covered up by the SMB pop top.
