Verticle Bike mount on rear doors

The guys at Sportsmobile West showed me a photo of a really neat way to mount bikes vertically on the rear doors of the Sprinter but they refused to give me the name of the person who did this mod.
There are tracks mounted horizontily over and under each back door window and the bikes are forki mounted on a Yakima Viper tray mount that is designed for a roof mount. The photo is not close up enough to tell how the tray is mounted to the track. Neither Yakima or Thule makes a mount like this that can attach the trays to the track so it had to be a special order. Any ideas out there? I'd post the picture but then SMB would get pissed at me and they still have my Sprinter.

I'm pretty sure Dave with Aluminess can fabricate something. Give him a call.

Draftmaster sells just such a vertical bike mount system.

They don't make anything close to what I described. It's a very simple fork mount to a short horizontal track that is bolted to the rear door. Draftmaster does not make such an animal.

bASS,

You are correct, they don't make any that attach to your rear door. They DO make a vertical mount with a small tray and a fork mount.

Re: Verticle Bike mount on rear doors

I saw something similar on a Hallmark truck camper. Go to this page: http://www.hallmarkrv.com/page/hallm...3dadc99da.jpeg and scroll down to where it says "Rear bike rack system by rockymounts."

Re: Verticle Bike mount on rear doors

It is similar however I wanted to mount it on a horizontal track so I would have left to right leeway.
I did a vertical mount like the Rocky Mount on the back of my Four Wheel Pop Top. I'll probably end up doing that again. Thanks for your input.
