Where are the 49ers?

I know they picked up their SMB and we haven't heard a word since. Talk about boondocking!

OK…We’re back and officially new SMB owners!! Sad to say, we haven’t seen any other SMBs on our travels so far. Sure got a lot of “looks,” and "Can we take a quick peek inside?"

July 6-8: After spending the morning at SMB-West with Jonathan trying to absorb how to run all the gizmos and gadgets, followed by a five+ hour drive to Reno (to avoid CA sales tax), we took possession of our new Sprinter SMB. Spent a really hot night, unfortunately not hot gambling, in the John Asuaga's Nugget parking lot in Sparks, NV, before heading home to Boise the next day.

July 12-15: We spent the next several days getting ready for our “shakedown” trip, boondocking in northern Idaho. Had a few minor issues, but they were mostly “operator error.” Everything worked well, except the refrigerator and that turned out to be just a bad connection. So, it works great, now. Really quiet. And, the solar is fantastic!!

July 23-28: We just returned from our “maiden voyage” but stayed in an RV campground near Leavenworth, WA, most of this trip. Not a bad RV park as RV parks go, but hopefully, we won’t have to stay at too many of them. There’s more elbowroom in the penthouse than we expected but decided to get a 10” bed extension for the 6’2” 49er. A couple more minor items on the “to do” list, but it’s really a great rig so far!!

MPG Check: 18.7-20.6 with varied driving terrain and speeds up to 75 mph.

So…we’re back home for a week or so but plan to do the Magruder Corridor in northern Idaho next. Now all we need is more free time…

Love our new SMB!!

We definitely plan to have many adventures in our SMB!!

Assume you're on your way north. Have a great trip!! Alaska is on our list for Aug/Sept 2009. Looking forward to hearing about your experiences.

All the best!

Thanks, jage, but I doubt we'll be springing for Mercedes badging any time soon. Besides, I wonder how the Dodge dealership would take to it, if and when we need servicing!!

Is Magruder open? Lolo Motorway was still 6' deep in places three weeks back and temps over in Oregon have been pretty cool as of late (haven't paid attention to ID/MT). We are planning a family trip up to the Lolo Resort Aug 15-18. However, if Magruder is open....

Checked and it is open.
