whitefeather sprinter conversion anyone?

just curious if anyone has any first hand experience with the whitefeather sprinter conversion? saw one that s.k. did prior, on an ambulance, looked good and the drivers said that it only had a few issues early on that got worked out, etc.
really expensive white elephant or worth investigating? i need more of a passenger type van these days and am looking at a new quigley passenger van that i will have smb west put a pop top in. I was in a sprinter passenger van the other day and was impressed, rode really nice felt well built and got nice fuel economy. but, i need 4wd.
any thoughts,

As of today, I think you have three choices for 4x4:

A: Whitefeather which you already know
B: Upscale Auto. Not sure if they are still converting(http://sprinterstore.com/sprinter_4x4.htm)
B: Move to Europe or Australia where you can get factory approved Oberaigner 4x4 for Mercedes Sprinter

I thought white feather had an injunction by the dot to cease and desist all conversions and recall the rest? I too would like to upgrade my smb to 4x4 and manual transmission but have a paucity of options...

It's going to be interesting to see what Ramsey alias Bajasportsmobile comes up with in the way of a 4X4 conversion for his new Sprinter.

..4 x4 sprinters will not be DOT approved or Mercedes certified. You can't even buy and import one from MB in Germany . (There is an exclusion for travlers, traveling to the USA, but its only for a year.) MB may be offering their all wheel drive, here in the USA, in the future

Rumor mill says MY2015 for AWD straight from factory. Some dealers are agreeing. I won't believe it until one runs me over. But here you go: http://sprinter-source.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27037

Seems the Transit is motivating Mercedes anyway: they just announced free roadside assistance program... they know the competition is coming and MY2015 is their big refresh year. But I've been disappointed too many times before.

There are a lot of rumors about a 4x4 Sprinter model coming to US shores in 2015, but like all rumors, we have always had the 4x4 model arriving "next year" for a number of years now.
