Salvage title, not even rebuilt?

https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/vehicl...vage-vehicles/

Nails holding headliner?

Tell tale dents?

I agree with BrianW, unless super cheap, needs inspection. $2k to ship in addition. We have multiple members in CA, maybe someone could take a look.

sorry I replied to the wrong thread. Stressed and tired.

It's a stolen and recovered vehicle and the listing says that the catalytic converter is missing which is a huge deal in California, but in the UK it isn't. You can also see from the photos that both battery trays are slung in the back with no batteries.

There might well be absolutely nothing wrong with the engine, or it might be knackered. You can get a good used 6.0 from a place in Ohio for $2500

However after a couple of hours soul searching I have decided that I am out.

My dream is dead for now.

Auction is in two hours.

Here is to the vehicle:-
https://iaai.com/VehicleDetails?itemid=38649929

You can't bid on that site without a trader license, but if you want to buy it you can bid here:-
https://www.salvagebid.com/search?search_query=29333386
you have to give them a $400 returnable deposit to actually bid and $200 for one year to live bid.

If I lived near to California I would be all over this, but I don't.

I need to get some perspective. Family are all healthy, we have a secure income and a nice house. It's just a van.

also I had a carfax done.
It was a government vehicle until 2018.
In California its whole life.
Second owner had it two years.
Stolen in the autumn and found 13 days later, then property of the insurance company

There is enough visible for me that it would need an inspection. Too much risk for a long distance purchase.

Good luck with your search. Yep, just a van. There will be other opportunities, even if it takes a while more.

Bidding finished at $1200. Normally scrap Econolines seem to go for $400 so hopefully someone wanted to save this beast and it will live to V8 diesel clatter another day.

Says estimated repair cost of $7700, so there must be something more to fix than just normal theft-recovery sort of things.

Side to side in my 2001 E150 is right at 6ft with bare walls

I am 5'10" and works fine

No one sleeps 100% straight, we all bend our legs etc so 5'10" ends up being about 5'6"-5'8" in reality
