Out of curiosity, why strip and rebuild, why not start with another van- either empty or with the floorplan/top you'd rather have?
Hey there....
A few reasons why I'd rather strip and rebuild and not start with another van:
1) i'm keeping my four captains chairs, floor, interior walls, carbon fiber dash board (fake), aluminess bumpers, wheels, and 4x4 set up, so it's not worth selling.
2) the rebuild will be approx $7k after selling my top, cabinetry, fridge, sink etc. not worth starting over
3) i've heard that 2007 and newer vans require ultra-low sulphur fuel which may not be available in some areas if traveling to mexico or other areas, so having a 2006 or older is benefit since it's not required (correct me if i'm wrong)
4) i only have 68,000 miles for a 2006, low miles
5) if i were to buy a used van to rebuild, i'll have no idea where it's been (no bueno)
6) i can use the tax write off for the rebuild since it's my mobile office for my business
7) it's fun to rebuild and tinker!
8) i'm the original owner and after six years with my van, i've fallen in love! it's the best thing i've ever purchased!
BUT after seeing this van, i've been sold to rebuild:
