Biggest Tire Size??

Hi All,

I have done a decent amount of searching and research, and it seems to be mixed responses...

I have a 1999 E250 EB Sportsmobile build, I currently have the stock wheels with 225/75 R16

I am looking to get some AT tires, and likely leaning towards a wildpeak or BFG. My question for everyone is what is the biggest size I can go without rubbing ect?

I have read that some people have fit 265/75 R16 with no issues, and others say they get rubbing. So what's the verdict?

What about a 265/70 R16, will these fit with no issues at all? Or will these also possibly rub?

Thanks all for the feedback!

I have 235/85/16 Michelins on my stock chassis E350 EB no rubbing at all, ever.
Tall and narrow work best for rain and snow

Hmm interesting, that’s a pretty tall tire. No issues with bottoming out ect? Also is there still room to fit chains in the rear? Thanks for the feedback!

Never rubs, even full lock turned and bottomed out (after all these vans have soooo much front wheel travel lol) the front bottoms easily.
The rear tires have about 2-3/4" clearance on the front side and 2-1/2" on the back side. I have never run chains so I can't say for sure but seems like it would be fine.

The Yokohama 265/75-16 Geolander tires rubbed slightly and required some mods to the rear part of the front wheel opening and trimming the bumper plastic. This was on a Quandvan TTB which had only a slight lift in front to even out the stance. The rear axle was completely stock. I could run cable chains on the rear.

Without the slight lift in front the 265's would not work.

To confirm this, we also currently have a stock 2006 2wd SMB EB50 on stock 245/75-16's. No way a 265 is going in there w/o some kind of lift.

Lilnuts is right on about tall and narrow for snow.

So are you saying the 265/70 and the 265/75 would rub?

Thanks for the info! Kinda what I assumed. I have a feeling the 265/70 is even going to be close, a lot of people say they have no issues. Idk. I might lean towards the 285 mentioned above. I assume the rubbing on the 265s is due to the width?
