The question is how much space, time, ability and money do you have?

If you answered "not much" to any of the above questions, you might consider if your 7.3 is in decent shape and you have a FF rear axle consider parting it out and using that money to get a better condition van.
Yeah that is what I'm thinking. I have access to a big shop but without a lift. Lots of time and I have the ability and help from my diesel mechanic cousin. Parting out everything and using that to buy a better van just sounds sooooo much easier. As for money... I'm 26 and just finished college. I'm trying to start my career, not spend all my money away. My plan was to do a very basic build and use it as a daily driver. My plan now is to hide the rust with some plywood and forget about it until I start my career and make some real money to body swap it eventually.

But how easy is a body swap really? I have a clean ‘99 5.4 Chateau body that I’d love to swap onto a “tore up” ‘99 7.3 frame. I’ve read every thread I can find and it doesn’t seem a cakewalk by any means. The devil in the details seems to be the wiring.

You are absolutely right. Ive spent hours digging in the forums and I agree with you 100%. I guess parting it out the best I can is all I can do. Ill probably just live with the holes in the floor for awhile and enjoy the van as is.
