BuckStop Aluminum Bumpers

I was browsing the Buckstop page today, and they now have Aluminum bumpers.

Re: BuckStop Aluminum Bumpers

I love my steel Buckstop front bumper. Their work is beautiful. I'm sure the aluminum is great.

Re: BuckStop Aluminum Bumpers

Nice looking
Different pricing from Aluminess

Maybe we can get Ford to donate a couple of vans
Aluminess and Buckstop to donate
then we get a Meet and Greet and play Demo Derby

Ya think?

ps
pics of my Aluminess post Mustang in my gallery

Re: BuckStop Aluminum Bumpers

The buckstop bumpers are great but Aluminess just look a bit more industrial and rugged to my eye. Maybe because Aluminess' joinery does not have as much radius as that on the Buckstop. In any event, Buckstop's pricing is obviously much higher, too.

BW, good idea on the demo, or maybe we can rent an elk cannon (a la chicken cannons in airplane testing) and shoot at both and compare.

Re: BuckStop Aluminum Bumpers

I like the integrated bumper hitch receiver. How many lbs is it rated for? Does the aluminess allow for a front mount hitch either integrated or separate? I'd like to get a front mount hitch for the bikes but want sure yet if the aluminess front bumper would allow for it.

Re: BuckStop Aluminum Bumpers

I have no idea what the receiver is rated for, but since it's integrated into the bumper, it's stout. You'll go way over your front axle rating before overloading the bumper, at least with the steel version.

Below is a Honda 650 on the front receiver. I also carry about 800 pounds of traffic cones up front (for setting up autocross courses).

With the Aluminess bumper you could install an aftermarket front hitch receiver, if that bumper leaves the frame rail open. The Buckstop has some 1/2" thick brackets that connect to the bottom of the bumper to the frame rail, to provide more pulling strength, and also some triangulation for side pulls.

Re: BuckStop Aluminum Bumpers

Nice. I'm liking the versatility of the buckstop front bumper but their rear bumpers don't have all the options of the aluminess. The OCD in me likes having brands and styles uniform. Decisions, decisions...
