Cab Chassis vs Passenger/Cargo body layout

How different are the 2 platforms laid out? Thinking ground location, gas tank location, etc. The question kicking around is can you swap a passenger body for a c/c body (assuming it's close in year). Seems simple enough, but I've been wrong (plenty of times) before. Google hasn't been very helpful in this endeavor so far.

Thanks,

E-series?

Main difference is passenger vans all have a mid-ship fuel tank. Cutaways can have either depending on rear axle weight rating (full float Dana 70 is rear tank). Also cutaways came in 138” 158” and 176” wheelbases. Vans are all 138”. Other than that, things are pretty much the same.

Yes - E-series. Sorry, I forget that there are some other platforms on this site too.

And sounds good. That's not too bad then.

I keep circling around to a camper body on the back vs building out the interior of the current passenger body. Either by building something (foam or alu), or finding an existing box and modifying it (just not one of the wood ones).
