Now, years later, I would do something different.
I like the steps of the aluminess bars but don’t like the lack of clearance. We have tweaked the driver side one on a rock.

Today I would do something like the n-fab nerf bars. Ideally something custom made that are strong enough to be actual sliders with areas for steps.

Mikerson: Luverne’s are still holding strong. Yes, they appear to be built to last. I’m still happy with the looks and the wider step has really helped.

I have AMP Running boards and I love them until they get extra dirty with mud. When that happens they hang up and do not fold back up. I have tried greaseless lube, lock lube, silicone to try and minimize the attraction of dirt but good old WD-40 pulls through every time and lasts the longest. So I keep a spray bottle of WD-40 in the Aluminess box.

Do You Like Your Running Boards?

If anyone is interested I have a set of new, unmounted Aluminess nerf bars/tube side rails/steps for sale. $700. Located in Philadelphia, Pa., area. Shipping would probably be cost-prohibitive. No photo at the moment but I can take one if you’re interested (they are just the standard Aluminess offering). Fit all 92+ Econolines. See https://agileoffroad.com/product/alu...erf-bars-ford/
