So in the Jeep world the TJ jeeps have the same problem where the gas pump overflows the fill process. On the Jeeps there is a check valve at the bottom of the filler neck. It's plastic and the crappy gas these days makes the plastic swell just enough so the valve doesn't close. You have to drop the tank and lightly sand the valve and the problem is solved. Is there a possibility there is something like that going on. I have a diesel with no emission crap so I have no idea if that is the problem, just a suggestion.
I had this problem on a 2004 V10. The pump would pop off every few seconds (but didn't do this outside of CA, lol)
There could be a number of things in the Evap system causing problems.
We tried first to replace the ventline that is connected to the filler neck to no avail.
Then we took the carbon canister apart and clean out the filter and some solenoid I can't remember off of top of my head rig now, all of this is right next to the spare tire.
we replaced the canister and solenoid altogether and still didn't work
So my buddy helped me dropped the tank and we replaced the two valves on top that are connected to the canisters, all works now.
anyone having this issue with a 46 gal gasoline Transfer Flow circa 2004?
I have the 46 gal. TransferFlow tank that was installed in 2006. Yep, same shut off issues when filling the tank in California.
