Hi all -- first post here. My sportsmobile is a '95 Dodge 2wd (which seems to be a definite minority here ) acquired from my folks with very low miles. They kept it garaged, but the clearance in my garage doesn't allow for that, and I've had to keep it outside the past few years. The little plastic caps over the bolts on the roof have all disintegrated over time. So far I haven't noticed any signs of leakage, but I'm wondering if they are necessary to prevent it in the future.
We are in the minority...for now! Post some picks of your 95.
I think the caps are for cover not sealing. You can get extra caps from SMB too.
For your garage issues...
- Try adjusting you garge door opener. I used an adjustment screw the increased the up travel. You might also manually disconnect your door and push it higher than the opener. My dad used to have a 2x4 cut to length to hold the door open higher.
- SMB put lowering shackels on the rear leafs on mine. Any shop can do it...but it wore out the right rear 'jounce' bumper.
Keep you SMB in the garage...it will last you so much longer.
I would definitely ask Sportsmobile for the caps. With the cap off you would have a small cup collecting water in it. The butyl rubber that they use is very good a making a seal, but the cap keeps it away from the bolt. I had a failure on a roof seal and it did not leak when parked in my drive way (slanted) , but when I went camping and had a level spot it showed up. The caps on the inside are the same size and you move them to the top while you get replacements.

Regarding garaging my SMB, unfortunately the clearance isn't due to the height of the door, but A) the height of the door header and B) the MASSIVE support beam that runs laterally across the garage half-way in and holds up a second-story bedroom. Don't think I want to be messin' with that
