Leaky Top Self Repair

Well yesterday I got a package from Sportsmobile West. After six weeks they delivered it rush service and it got here in less than two days.

The good news is I got the package and I can now begin repair of my own leaky top. The bad news is we are moving next month and I'm just starting to pack up the garage. I'd like to get on it right away, but we've got so many projects I don't know if I can do it this weekend.

Here's what came in the box:

Left to right:
New Large Washers and Plastic Cap Washers
Bolts in Various Lengths
Thin Butyl Rubber (I have "sheets" instead for the whole washer thanks to Greg (Scalf77))
Caps and Clips - the clips are for the rubber edge that goes around the rim of the top, which I also received on a spool in the box.

So, I'm relieved that I finally have everything I need to repair the top, except for instructions or guidance (which really I only want for the rubber seal and since my personal email and cellphone have both been out this week it's quite possible I missed communication from SMB).

I'm sure I can call SMB. I'll probably bug Texas though- Peter seems overwhelmed. Speaking of SMB West, I can't resist pointing out, in the "Attention to Detail" category:

That folks is the bottom of the box, and it's exactly what it looks like- simply loose flaps folded over one another. The top is taped to the gills, the bottom not sealed at all. How funny is that?

That's pretty common actually. I buy and sell a lot of crap on eBay, and you'd be surprised how many times people send a box that has the top taped to hell and back, and the bottom is ignored. It has a worn out single piece of tape from the first time the box was used 3 years ago, now 30 shipments back and forth, there's not much left of it. I usually make a habit of turning the box over after I've taped the top and run a few strips of tape across the bottom.
