The OEM units are superior to the aftermarket.
The power function does not include power extension.
I did not have to do any rewiring on my 2003 V10 passenger.
I do not remember having to cut off one of the studs.

Thanks for the advice everyone.
I appreciate it.
I guess the obvious question for me would be be is, my van is a 2003 so do I buy extendable power mirrors for a (2003.)

or would it be (another year) that I retrofit and adapt to the 03?

Basic question, I know...lol

You can't simply eliminate one of the mounting studs and enlarge existing pre-2003 door shell holes making this a super easy fix. Spacing differences between the two versions has you drilling at least two new holes in order to securely mount the later year mirror bases going from the 4 post in a 3 post original door.

Existing wiring harness connectors from the door wiring harness to the mirror motor should be the same HOWEVER the up/down/left/right signals might not be the same. Its easy enough to reconfigure the connectors to accommodate the later model years---IIRC wiring colors are the same so you'd have to just match them within the connector.

If the wiring colors do change between years following an EVTM for the "old" vehicle and the newer wiring of the mirrors should restore operation of the mirror to match the door switch movement.

HTH

Have any folks here found a good seller for the OEM units, beyond the dealership?

eBay is a good source, someone here may have a set to sell as well. Perhaps put an ad in the marketplace here on SMB?

And I'll repeat there's nothing like the OEM stuff for better build quality.
