Mounting a Fammia 45 awning to a Voyager top.

Any sugestions on the best way to mount a Fammia 45 directly to the top. I would need to angle it down I guess. I have a selt of Eli brackets but would really prefer to flush mount it. Any sugestions apreciated.

Fiamma USA sells simple brackets to mount the awning.

I saw those brackets but the voyager top is not 90 degrees from the ground. I may just shim it somehow and flush mount it.

Did you look at the Rialta brackets on Page 2? They appear to be hinged at the bottom, and have an adjustable top bracket.

When I mounted my awning, I used two 5 x 7 pieces of metal plate inside and attached the awning to it on both ends. Then , attached it in the center, also. Shimming was necessary as the cruiser top is not square.

How did you make out with the awning? Did you mount it level or follow the roof line? What did you use for brackets?

Re: Mounting a Fammia 45 awning to a Voyager top.

I bought is used with a set of Eli brackets so I used them. I did learn the awning is internally mounted on springs so it could be flush mounted on the upward sloping top. The springs would let it droop easily into position. A few things to consider are that the awning will become very high up and the legs are only so long. You would need a stool to open and close it because the legs are folded up into it. You need to get your hands on it to take care of the legs. On my top it was not feasable to mount it to the lowest portion of the top for one reason or another so that would have raised it a bit more. The top is not square but rounded front to rear so shimming at least one end would be needed and where on the inside the bolts will go through is to be considered. None of this is a deal breaker for mounting it directly to the top and it would be tucked in a little but I had the brackets and I'm very happy with the way they work.

Re: Mounting a Fammia 45 awning to a Voyager top.

Thanks for the input. I'll have to look into the height issue before I mount mine. The construction of the top prevents the awning from being mounted low. Maybe I'll mount it to the garage wall to do some testing first.
