Good job and again thanks for you effort documenting this process!
Thanks for the link, I will look into them for the next project. The page had a number of nuts, which one in particular where you referring to?

I thought that link would take you right to the page, sorry 'bout that. Try McMaster p/n 97217A393 for representative type. They're described as being for plastics but their design works perfectly in thinner sheet metal too, especially in the 1/4" and larger sizes (metric equivalents as well.)

Re: Passenger side grab handle write up-

Thanks for the nice write up! I'm curious, would a grab handle from an F series work?

Re: Passenger side grab handle write up-

Just an FYI, the A pillar trim and grab handle on the F350 does not match the E350.

I did find two different types of grab handles for the E350. One that looks similar to the one shown in this thread and then another type a little chunkier. The chunkier ones seems like they would fit my 99 E350 but I'd have to grind a slot for one of the clips near the top of the trim. I think the chunkier trim came from a 2002? But not 100% sure.

Re: Passenger side grab handle write up-

The F-Series has a different windshield rake or angle so it will be different than the E-Series. The grab handles could be transferred but we'd have to modify our existing A Pillar trim pieces to accommodate them.

I don't think factory grab handles were added until '03? I'll snap a photo of mine later today for comparison.

There are also commercial grade exterior grab handles with a much lower profile, mostly just round bars formed for the purpose. Not all that pretty but just as effective. Links available if anyone is interested in this less attractive alternative.

JWA: FYI, my van is a 2002, I am the single owner, and it came with the passenger's side grab handle from the factory (but not one on the driver's side which I want to install). So it looks like 2002 may have been the first year?

That's entirely possible---I was thinking '03 was first year for both sides as standard equipment. These are images of what I have:

Oddly enough I don't think I've seen too many '02's in my day.

Re: Passenger side grab handle write up-

JWA, Those are the chunky handles I saw at the picknpull the other day. There is a difference between the ones you posted to the ones hammerhome posted. Perhaps the chunkier ones are the newer style?
