Penthouse Tape now being installed?

Our van has had a penthouse top on it for the last 10 years w/o any tape. Will look at it tomorrow and also figure out the miles we have put on it. Off hand I have not noticed any roof paint distress from the penthouse.

Our 2017 SMBW Transit build had no tape installed by SMBW. At 4000 mi the paint under the PH had already worn through. I contacted SMBW and they promptly sent a roll of tape. However, after seeing problems with corrosion under the tape, I elected to take it to a shop that does spray on pick-up truck beds to spray on a strip all around the PH edge. That is working well and I highly recommend the spray on pick-up bed liner.

This ^^^ is a better idea IMO. I have yet to see Raptor/Rhino/etc. give anyone trouble. I have put tape on a few vans but when I saw those pics above a couple years back I said never again!!!

I have used the clear bra type tape. It is very durable and see through.
