Rain gutter

I was talking to a couple at Mammoth this morning that own a 2002 EB50. I was looking at his rain gutter, thinking about my portable awning idea. I noticed that their rain gutter was filled with a rubber like epoxy. He mentioned that it was done to keep water and salt air from sitting in the gutter causing them to rust out. Is this something that Ford does, Sportsmobile does, or the owner does? I am hoping to clamp an aluminum bar on the rain gutter, but if it is filled in I won't be able to. Thanks. oclv

My gutters are about 1/3 filled with a semi-hard, rubbery kind of stuff. From the Ford factory.

Interesting, you both have 2004's, and one is filled and one is not. Thanks. oclv

The filler I saw at Mammoth was a black filler. You can only see it if you stand in the doorway and look down into the rain gutter. It came up 2/3 to 3/4 of the way to the top of the rain gutter, and it was kinda soft. You could press your finger nail into it. I guess it is a good thing, but I am hoping mine doesn't have it so I can get a "C" clamp down into the raing gutter and clamp something to it. oclv
