Rear Wheel Well Trimming

Hey guys

Since putting my 35’s on with Weldtec’s kit I’m hitting my rear wheel well under very rough conditions.
I initially found that I had the leaf springs blocks put it the wrong way and this was the reason why I was hitting upfront. Turning it around reduced the problem and moved it to the back of the well.

Yes, I could start playing with shims and move it 1/4” by 1/4” forward, but I would still end of really tight.

Now as I want to bedline the bottom part of the chassis either way, I want to cut away what “I don’t need”.
Idea is to create an inch more spacing front and back.

I could possibly roll the fenders, but I have the feeling this is more to fold a corner around than really creating space.

So my idea was: cut it off up to the corner that the metal sheets create.

I would perhaps cut out a triangle like sketched up to weld the “radius” part back on and still have a similar design.

Did anyone do this before?
Any pics, proposals, ideas?

As mentioned: I’m painting either way, so paint cracks don’t matter that much…

@doitlikedewey on instagram was cut in the same way by @agileoffroad. Look way back on @agileoffroad 's instagram to see pics before paint. They're clearing 37's

Rear Wheel Well Trimming

Thanks! Contacted the owner to see if he has some pics. If not I try Agile directly!

Edit:
Couldn’t find any pics at Agile, Dewey’s or the owner page…

Not to the rear, but to the front I had the same clearance problem. I did post picks years ago, but they are long gone now. I cut horizontal slits about 3/4 to 1” apart back to the clearance point, then bending each slither around and make a new curve, that way all the welds are inside (or on the lip) of the fender and not the outside. If you do this carefully you won’t need any body filler (once grinding the welds down) and will produce very little paint damage on the outside. The method you described is also good and I have used it before on other vehicles, but really requires a lot of bodywork after (filler and sanding) to get it to look right. If it was a show vehicle then your method will produce a better end result as long as you get the triangle cut absolutely perfect.

I heard back from the owner of Dewey :-)
(Ok… after I first contacted a friend of him and he forwarded me [emoji23])

—> Agile did the „triangle cut“

He sent me some pics of the front trim as he didn‘t had pics of the rear. Once I have his ok I upload the pics here.

Now it‘s about finding a neighbor who can weld and finding the right radius.

E-350 is that rust mark from like a Bush wacker fender flare?
Do post pics of your fender surgery. I'm about to do the same thing.

Rust marks… no idea, didn‘t ask for it.

Yes, will let you know how it goes and post some pics. But might take some time as I now have to find someone who welds it together.
And then I‘m going on a trip in 2 weeks, so I assume it has to wait

Quick update:
Got a quote for 750$ to do the trimming as suggested above. Both sides, front and back.

Sounds reasonable to me and we have it done mid July.
