Small lift for small $$

Well, I took the plunge yesterday and changed something on my van!
I lifted the front by 1- 5/8" by installing some stiffer springs. I really would like to do a bigger lift, but I wont be getting to So. Cal. anytime soon so this is going to do it for a while. I should be able to fit 265/75 R16's in there now and those two things together should give me about 3" over stock. Now I just need to make up my mind about tires.....

They are on my BlackBerry. I'll send them to you and you can post them here if you wish. I've tried a few times to do it directly, not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Small lift for small $$

Looks great! All I wanted in the beginning was a front 2" leveling kit and ended up going a whole different route lol!

Where and how much were the springs?

Re: Small lift for small $$

The springs are made local, I paid $250 Canadian for them and it took about an hour to install them. They are made of 7/8 wire instead of the 3/4 that Ford used. They are the same part as used on F250/350s. The stock shocks were long enough so I left them alone. He didn't want to sell me thicker coils fearing that I would not be able to get the camber set right.

Re: Small lift for small $$

Total lift is about 2.75" measured at the wheel well. The I beams move down as you raise the van with springs so you end up with less ground clearence gain than the measurement at the wheel well, but it still looks way better than stock. The rear sits about .75" higher than the front. It will probably level out with the Pop up trailer and all our stuff (3 daughters= STUFF! And I LOVE it!) when we head out camping.
