For a commission I'll answer all your questions. Otherwise I would suggest reading up just like you'd do on anything else. Did you just come to sell something or are you actually interested in these vans?
Thought so.
Just put it on Craigslist.

Guys, you know I love you all.
That, however, does not change the fact that I am not fond of how you have responded to this person.
Let's be clear: it certainly appears that the original poster is a sales person who is looking to profit from the collective experience of a group of van enthusiasts. That is not the kind of forum membership we encourage, and most forum members are not going to want to give away their expertise under those circumstances. Fair 'nuf.
I see every reason to let somebody know that this kind of interaction with the forum is not something that we want to see here. However, that information can be conveyed politely and without a snark factor.
We have an amazing history of being kind and respectful to each other in this space. That means more to me than I can ever express in words. I would love it if we would continue to do that.
Here's an alternative response to the original post that allows us to communicate our boundaries while still treating each other with respect:
Dear SoranTruckSales:
This forum is a place where folks who love these vans get together to share their knowledge--and share the joy of working on, and traveling in these amazing machines. We actively discourage participation that is strictly commercial in nature--and that is what your post appears to be.
That said, you are more than welcome to read any material in the forum.
Best regards,
A bunch of slightly nutty van lovers
I'm climbing off of my soapbox now. Thanks for listening.
-Bianca

Bianca, your right. It was snarky, but it was also lazy of the original poster. If they had taken the time to post up ANY photos and let on that they even tried searching, I’m sure someone would have provided the info requested. I would have anyway. But coming here asking to be spoonfed answers that are easily obtainable by even the simplest google search is asking for exactly what was dished out.
This is a community because we all give back and fourth. This person has one post asking questions that we can’t answer without pix and once those questions are answered, there will be one more post, the for sale add, and we will never hear anything from them again. Not saying Eric’s response or my smartass pic was right (or wrong for that matter), but it is what it is. Eric (and quite a few others) has a lot of posts here and a good majority of them are helping out people who love their vans. I see him answering the same questions over and over because people won’t search first. I totally see his frustration when he responded...
There was a post quite a few years ago regarding forum vampires iirc. IMHO, this falls right in line with that. Once I get to a computer I’ll see if I can find it.
Either way I appreciate your post keeping the snarky kids in check, lol. (In a monotone kid voice) sorry mrs Bianca

Yeah, some photos would have shown a minimum of effort on OP’s part. I’m sure we would have helped a bit. Or we could send this helpful info link: http://bfy.tw/GG5c
