Just curious, any suggestions on what brand of spare tire carrier to buy? I like the Aluminess that swings away from the left rear door but I have a modest budget so that one is off the table. I've heard of tire carriers made by Surco which also mounts on the left rear door. Anyone with any experience with Surco?
(I can't place the spare tire on the roof(rack) because my PH top will be manual not electric and I'll already have a ski box up there.)
If you running stock wheels and tires, the Surco may be adequate - but so would the the stock underbody carrier.
If you have larger wheels/tires I'd go for the Aluminess or nothing. You can modify the stock location to fit up to a 33" tire.
