Spare tire removal

Foam topper is not bad. Not a lot of seat time with it yet since the sky started falling after I bought it. Its firm but not bad. Queen size 5” lucid memory foam from Amazon. I think it was 100-120$. Good reviews on it.

Those collapsible rods if shipped would run a decent amount I'm guessing. Visiting almost any scrap yard should find these laying around ready for recycling. They tend to be almost identical across brands but of course checking the tang end would be highly advisable.

You can pop off the cone thing underneath (designed to guide the crank tool into the pulley slot) and just use a flat blade screwdriver. It’s a PITA but it works. I’ve done it.

That was going to be my reply as well. Take the plastic glide sleeve off and you'll be able to figure it out on your own.
