Sportsmobile pop up top closed position height?
Hello and new to forum first post,
I am thinking about a 2022 Chevy Express van with Sportsmobile pop up top if it can fit in one of our two car garages. Our MAX garage door opening is 93" tall.
Will a Chevy Express with Sportsmobile pop up top fit to drive under our 93' door?
We had a great 2022 Midwest Sprinter RV but had issues with our HOA parking it in our driveway, so sold the Sprinter RV. The Sprinter was overkill for our retirement weekend trips and now looking into a Chevy van conversion with 2 person bed, toilet, gas burner, storage for weekend trips in Arizona/Utah/Colorado
Thanks Alan

Careful which van you buy. I don't think SMB will put a pop top in a Chevy passenger van due to curtain airbags. It would have to be a cargo van only.

Welcome.
On my GMC, the SMB top adds 6” in height, 2010 conversion. You could ask SMB what height the current tops add. Quick google search has 84.8” for the van. Rounding up, right about 91” if the info is correct. Could you measure the van?

Thank you, yes I saw on Chevy's web site the van overall hight is 85" so with your 6" popup that makes 91" which is close but looks like one would just make it into my current garage. Thanks I will start looking into my options to build or purchase

Welcome. Suggest you confirm with SMB before to make sure there aren’t any changes. Looked on the SMB website, but didn’t see it.
As 86Scotty said, they don’t put tops in vans with rear air bags.

If the clearance is real close & the van will just be an "occasional use" vehicle, you might get an additional inch or two clearance by letting air out of the tires (with a decent compressor, or a 5 or 10lb Power Tank you can air them back up pretty easily - suggest you purchase their regulator since it doesn't freeze up).

Remember- that tight for clearance = likely no solar and certainly no roof fan. Make sure SMB includes the height of the caps on the roof bolts and caps!!
Entry into a garage usually includes a stepped up garage pad which can change the angle of the van and hence the measurements as they become angled. If the approach into the garage is angled down then the height requirement is much more than the height of the van and needs to include consideration of the wheelbase.
Not much room for error.

Agreed with 1der 1000%. I have had things like this go sideways on me. Plan carefully.

Greetings - remember that based on your measurements - any type of solar panel(s) or roof rack is most likely a "no go." Good luck --
