Re: Suspension/lift

Just a note: Caster is adjusted with the same eccentric that camber is adjusted with - you end up getting the best compromise of the two with the best eccentric choice you have. You have come this far on your own - bust out the tape measure and a friend and set your own toe.

Good job!

Thanks, I think I will set the toe myself just to save another 80 -100 bucks and put that towards some more goodies. Thanks, again for the encouragement

Re: Suspension/lift

would like to pass along to anyone interested in lifting their home grown adventure vehicle, that I had a great experience (and very happy with) my Action Van lift kit. Larry was super helpful and knew everything about the modification of my vehicle. I had it done at the local 4 wheel parts store and relied on Larry's advice for the wheel size, offset, tire size, etc. Also bought Aluminumess ladder and spare tire carrier. Will have the ARB locker installed next. Half the cost of converting to 4x (would have loved to, but comes down to $).
Highly recommend if you are considering.
FYI.

You can see the transformation from my pictures dwest on the forum.

Ignorant question. How do spring loads correlate? It is weird, to me at least, that there a bunch of spring options with a load of 1500-1850 then there is the cc880s with a load almost double yet they are for the similar application.

I have a 2006 E250 with the 5310# springs a pop top and a medium weight interior build adding up the weights (I don't have actual weights but we semi frequently hit the bump stops).

I installed the cc880s and it gave just under 2" lift (1" or less would be preferred) and is stiffer than before. We liked the ride of the stock springs just don't want to bottom out, so I was considering the cc880 option, but just curious if that will be a flimsy noodle with a load rating of 1850

Federal mogul comes up with part numbers MOOG cc81368 and cc81370 as variable rate stock replacements but doesn't have load or spring rate specs and has an installed height of 6.784" (that seems a bit short). Nor do those numbers appear on moogs 18 pages of spring tables.....

Re: Suspension/lift

If you measure your installed length, you can do the math and see where another spring should end up.

Did the 2" Maxx leveling on my 2010. Very easy install. Rides better than before and looks better.

Figured I'd post the video here also for anyone going to do this project. Total time to do was about 2hrs and 4 beers. I installed coilover rear shocks(Monroe from O'rielys) that added maybe an 1" to the rear ride height.
