My rubbing is caused by less backspacing on the new rims. I should be able to run 35s, and these are 34s but they rub- it's because the MotoMetal rims have about 1" less backspacing and the arc the tires travel through is increased... of course it doesn't help that they're wide, but the old set was the same width.
But I agree, the height is the last factor in causing rub.
