Tires... 285 / 265's???

Alright got tires mounted up on the weekend, still waiting on the 5th (spare) which will be in this week.


Took some pics of the progress starting with removing running board before heading to tire shop.

Front is close but hasn't rubbed yet.

Have my Moog CC880 Coils ordered up. From what I've read they'll get me 1-1.5" lift and I'll have rear springs rebuilt to match.
That'll be it for lift, otherwise won't fit in garage anymore.

I think it's lookin good, see what lift looks like in a week or two.

We're on our third SMB, trade in at about 100,000 miles. Have way through the first on had to get new tires. Got wider tires and sure cut down on side movements in the wind. Got wider tires early on in next two SMBs and have enjoyed it.

I'm going through this dilemma too. My e350 has the moog cc880s springs, bilsteins, a 1" body lift for the wheel chair ramp (removed) and fiberglass fenders. It's currently sitting on 255/75/16's (31x10) and they just look tiny. I'm thinking 285's are the way to go with my 5.8, 4.10 gearing, 1-2" lift and fiberglass fenders. I still have about 15k miles on these 31's so I've got some time to decide.

I am kinda diggin mine with the 265's and 2" body lift.

I have the CC880 but haven't put em in yet because I haven't nailed down shock length I'll need.


Do you know part# for Bilstein's you used wit the Moog springs?
Your 350 and 880S probably net same as I'll see on my 150 and 880 springs.


With what you are describing I'd be happy with 265's but it's all preference.
For me I think with 4" lift 285's are the way to go, any less 265's look good.

My van is a 2006 E250 with a 5.4, 4.10 Gears, 4" lift, 2" Body lift for the wheelchair drop floor and I run 275/70R18's (33") with no rubbing however it is close. It still fits in my garage (8' door). All that said your best with 265's. You made a good choice.

Bilstein has 2 options for the front and rear of our vans. I live near the Bilstein warehouse in Poway, so I just called over and spoke to one of their tech support guys. Explained my van, application and goals. He ultimately recommended 33-187563 B6 4600 Shock Absorber and 33-176840 B6 4600 Shock Absorber (the ones for the short wheelbase RV). He did add the caveat "we cannot confirm how they will perform with a taller/stiffer spring." I picked them up locally and got the moog's from amazon. I haven't been able to go out and explore with them, but road handling seems much better now.
