Re: Got a new Trailer...it's kinda BIG!!

Very cool setup! Did you notice much difference in the ride quality with and without the weight distribution? Such as "float" or bouncing? Thanks!

I was going to say "mine's bigger" but it's not- also not as nice. Really good looking setup!

I was going to say Jage's is smaller.

Lots of similarities to TPD trailers. Very, very nice build you did.

Yea, mine is smaller too:

Ray,
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you, I've been out of the country for the last 2-3 months on and off and just got back yesterday. I got the covers and installed them on the propane tanks and they fit perfectly!! Thank you so much for the covers and being such a great guy!!

I will upload some pictures of them here in a couple days. I've got my hands full with unanswered mail and errands that need doing! But wanted to thank you before anything else for your generosity and kindness!!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

Julien

Hey Julien,

You're welcome! When I saw your picts it reminded me that I had these things laying around so I thought I'd ask if you wanted them. I'm glad they fit as expected.

I'm on my continued quest to downsize and getting rid of stuff. I've already given away a few items here on the forum .. thank you for taking this from me.

Have a great week,
Ray

So, any updates on this setup and the trailer? How is it all working?

Do you know your weight w/o the truck?

Are companies that custom build toy haulers like this hard to find? I'm about to do a search for the Dallas Metroplex. Surely, there's one or two around. Are there nationally-known names who are reliable and build what amount to commercial trailers with living spaces that I should be contacting ILO a local outfit?

One thing that attracts me to this idea is the ability to beef the specs up from what's usually built in the US. For example, the Australian outback trailers are tough as a Seattle cornerback. They're also suspended higher and have a longer, tougher tongue for better maneuvering through gullies and switchbacks. They also cost too much, even for the Aussies. But who says I can't poor-boy one that might not kick Kangaroo a**, but will get me over the rough Forest Service Roads in the lower 48.

I used it to haul my race truck around the last couple months and it's worked out well. I think I've put around 2000 miles on the set-up and I was getting 13-14 mpg towing it. With the tow bars there is very little trailer sway. I haven't actually used any of the kitchen/bathroom yet so nothing to report there, just been using it as a vehicle hauler so far.

Also right now since it was empty I emptied out a storage unit that I had and now have it in there at the moment. Cheaper and more convenient at the moment.

I really can't help you in that regard. I really don't know who the main players are in toy hauler and rvs world and can't tell you who does custom work and who doesn't. I found a place local to me who built trailers for big distributors and it seemed to of worked out.
Dry I think it's around 6-7,000lbs.
