Hardwiring My 2000 Jeep Wrangler

Here is the plan (the switch is a DTDT 6 pin from Radio Shack):

Will post an update soon on how it worked.

Well I wired it inside the driver side kick panel and attached the switch and relay to the diagnostics port. Here's the final result, and the switch wound up in the perfect position to be out of the way but not difficult to reach.

Up is Jeep input and Down is for Flat Towing.

If I leave it in "Flat tow" while driving the Jeep my brakes and parking lights work, and the front turn signals flash really fast (as if a bulb were out).

If I leave it set for driving, the brakes will still light through the wiring harness, as will the parking lights. The only missing piece will be the turn signals.

I'll take some more pics when I've added the tow bar.

Regarding the fast flashing turn signals, you're flasher module is probably a thermal-based flasher. When you change the thermal load that's across a thermal-based flasher (e.g. when converting to LED turn signal bulbs), the flasher compensates by changing the flash rate. You can find an electronic (timer) based flasher unit at an auto parts store that should plug right in.

Right, but it only does that when the rear lights are "unloaded" because the switch is in the wrong position. It serves as a warning that my turn signals are disconnected by the switch.
