Re: Looking for a pull utility trailer

REF had a real nice trailer built in Colorado Springs.

Think it's mentioned here:

Re: Looking for a pull utility trailer

Good and cheap - I've a line on a 4x6 with a good solid axle and welded framing. What I am planning on doing is building a box out of marine ply, epoxy and than paint the outside. Than I will add some racks to take the bikes down the road. I'll of course post pictures of my build. I estimate it will probably take me the better part of a week depending on whether I take the trailer, sand and paint the base. Also I might have to build outside as the "other" project is taking up all the interior space. Either way it's going to be a great project. Here's my plan,
Build the box
Get some good looking wheels (maybe match the vans)
Make it water tight
LEDS
Epoxy coat the entire box
Paint sides/top
Mount rack for three bikes
Mount rack for huge cooler
Weld extensions to sides to accept new square tubing for canoe, removable.

This is the M101A I picked up over the weekend. Brand new tires, canvas top and trailer light fixtures. Towes real nice.

Got it

So after looking over CL for weeks on end losing out on several trailers one came up today right around the corner from the home - I was there within hours of the posting. It's a solid little 4x7 with side walls. All wood needs to be replaced - which is fine as I was planning on epoxy encapsilating and paint it anyways. Mainly I am on the hunt for accessories to outfit the trailer now. I'll be pulling all the ply, scraping, sanding and repainting the trailer from the ground up. Suggestions on must haves are great! I was thinking in order of the build,

Pull ply
Sand blast or sand trailer
Repaint
Have the axles flipped, maybe add some shocks
New panels, sealed, painted - interior will be coated in some heavy industrial paint as well as the underside. (It's actually a two part black epoxy paint.)
Construct a lid, add struts
Probably construct a tunge box while I am at it make use of the room there. I was thinking I might install a 12v/110 system (??)
Rack for the bikes, kayak, canoe, etc.
New wheels
Thoughts on other things that would be nice to have on a trailer?

Re: Looking for a pull utility trailer

Lights ! Get some good LED lighting for the back, together with some white flood type LED spots. Makes pushing the trailer backwards at night a lot easier.

Re: Looking for a pull utility trailer

Thought I would post a few pictures of the new trailer. I like the way it stands right now so I won't flip the springs unless down the road I find myself with a Jeep 4x4.

Re: Looking for a pull utility trailer

We love our 4x6 rig. The trailer sits locked and loaded for any trip. The build was/is part of the fun.
