Motorcycle rack?

I am wanting to bring my (XR650) on my trip to Ak in two weeks and I was hoping for some feedback on the best carrier. Price is a biggy and of course function.

I'm a die hard XR fan, but they don't call it the big red pig for nothing........

You need a very sturdy rack for a trip like this.

My motojack rack (now ultimate MX hauler) has served me well for nearly 7 years, many of those carrying my xr400. Be sure and get the heavy duty model. It is very solidly built and works fine on the back of my SMB.

If you get a rail type carrier, I'd go with something that uses two hitch points.

I've haven't used one personally but I hear good things about Versahaul http://www.versahaul.com/products.php.

I had heard that versa rack was a good one aswell but i am worried about the handle bars being toclose to my rear window. I like the looks of the ultimate MX rack with the Jack system and I can turn the handle bars. but the 650 is close to the max weight..

Built my own rack many years ago. It packs two supports for my XR600. Too bad you are not closer to CA then I could help build one for you.
You have probally already surfed the internet but I read good stuff about the AMC-400 carrier

I really like the extra modifications you've done and the rack looks very sturdy. Unfortunately I am running out of time and am going to have to get something less, and do some quick mods myself. Hope you fellas dont mind Im going to copy yours.

Ok got the rack Sat. put it together and put it on and rolled the bike up, and instantly said no freaking way. Maybe it's just me but I wouldnt drive down my driveway with it. Im sure it would be fine if I had a 250cc hey there we go maybe I should buy one of those Maybe "she" wont notice! Nah she notices everything, oh well back to taking mountain bikes.

I have a Kawasaki KLX250S and I wouldn't use that rack as is......for that matter any hitch rack that only has one hitch for support. Maybe it's just me but even with my re-enforced carrier I am constantly looking at it in my rear view mirror and I check the straps at every stop.
