say one had more $ than sense

Carringb, so I was wondering (I've never been to junk yard),, but do you think it would be posssible to find a salvaged E250 2011 -2014 and try to get the tow package wiring harness off? I'm talking about the part from the dash to the rear of the van. I agree like you said most if not all these vans have the dash wiring and connectors for the tow package.

I too would like to use the Ford OEM Brake module and I can still find that online. Its pricey but you can find it. I could get someone to install a new brake master cylinder if that had to be done.

I wish I could see one ( the wiring harness, pigtail etc) factory oem installed on a van. I've never even seen that. I hate to go up to total strangers and ask then if I can crawl under their van,,, but I may have to do it.

Possible, sure. But because it's bundled in with other chassis wiring, definitely not easy. I think the universal kit would be easier to install.

I am back at the tow project again,,

I took it by the hitch shop near me that quoted me $275 last year now says $400-$800!!

I left faster than heck...

I installed the brake controller , Prodigy 2 and attached the connecting wires to the factory plug behind the coin tray. Its getting power, lights on and stay on...

I climbed under and found the plug with the dummy cover on it near the spare tire frame rail, 4 wires going into it. I assume the guy who installed the 4 flat wiring took the wires to the signals/brake lights.

There arent any other plugs that I can find where the last three remaining wires to control brakes etc...

Are you saying that if the van has the stock Ford plug behind the change tray in the dash, it SHOULD have the plug on the frame rail to control trailer brakes??

I stopped by a few other places and am getting info that cannot be trusted... Nobody wants to take a look and see what they are quoting me on!!!

Please help AGAIN!

UPDATE...

My van only has the plug on the frame for the 4 flat plug...

I bought a brake controller and found the pig tail behind the coin tray on the dash.

I drove to Uhaul of all places and they installed a 7 pin plug, wired up everything for $113 with a 2 year nationwide warranty!!

Now I can tow my travel trailer!!

Congratulations! My tip: crawl underneath the rig and make sure they tied up the wires nice and neat and safely. My installer left wires hanging out in the breeze.

Thanks Otter

As soon as it stops raining, Im gonna crawl under and do some zip tie and tape work... I decided that after I saw that the installer ran a wire directly over the battery!! I will be changing that too!!

Thanks again,
Mike
