Re: Of Adventure Trailers

For backing up a trailer, an EB makes it more difficult. The pivot (hitch) is further behind the axle and moves more sideways as the van turns. My SMB trailer is ~10' long, about 7' to the axle and backing it up is the main reason I added a camera to the back of my van.

Still, it was never impossible, just difficult. The short trailer reacts so quickly that by the time you see it, it is almost too late.

Now, I always put the van in lo range and back up very, very slowly and have few problems. I suspect you could get by simply doing the same.

Mike

Re: Of Adventure Trailers

My utility trailer has a short tung with a 6' long box. A real pain to back up. Mike is right about the reaction time. It I was going to get a new trailer I would borrow several of different lengths from friends and try backing them up to find out what felt most comfortable.

Sure. All you have to do is let me know when you will be in Oregon City and I will hook you up.

Re: Of Adventure Trailers

Another option for test backing would be to stop by your local U Hall and rent a trailer that is about the size you are looking for. A few hours of rental and a test drive should tell you all you need to know. If I remember correctly they have several lengths and axel configurations to choose from.

That is freakin' cool. A tear-boat trailer. No pics of the boat off the trailer though.

Does anyone know, is the boat the actual roof of the trailer, or does it just sit on top of the trailer roof?

Re: Of Adventure Trailers

I think this would be cool it it were smaller, and on taller suspension.
