The only thing that I have been able to ascertain about trailer tire manufacture is that its a cheaper product in every respect, far less damage resistant and not suited to US highway use at Max rated load. That at least has been my experience over 20 years. The fact that most of these tires are made in China to no published standard and the manufacturers are not easily held liable for damage which is hard to prove only adds to my misgivings. I know the supposed design logic about zero radius turns and yada yada scrubbing etc but their other weakness is so glaring that I wont use them. Four years of towing at Max gross with truck tires has thoroughly convinced of the error of my former ways and the recommendation you have made.

Each to their own.

I always upgrade my waverunner trailers and utility trailers to new wheels and e rated radials, they track straighter, sides are protected way better and after seeing damage cheap tires do when they go flat unnoticed and become shrapnel it’s a cheap price, plus you end up with two spares.as others stated if you can have the same set up as rig just a bonus.
