My SMB had removable ski/snowboard racks that attached to the Aluminess ladder. Didn't hurt that my SMB had two ladders though since one doesn't provide much ski storage space. Don't have any pictures of it to share however.

Ray, how did you attach the megawarrior to the tracks?

Cool. Did you just use the nuts that Yakima supplies for mounting “feet” ?

Yes, same style as Yakima supplies for use with the feet that mount in thes style tracks.

I bought extra T-Nuts from a rack shop, if I remember correctly. They are also available from McMaster, or Thule/Yakima. The ones I used are the ones that can be placed into the track slot and then turn 45 degrees to lock in place. I used a dab of blue Loctite to keep them secure.

Has anyone bolted a ski rack to a deluxe on the back of the van? I have 2 Yakima ski racks (29” each) that would be mounted on the top of the box with landing pads, towers and round bars. The skis would would be mounted transversely and would swing out with the box to allow access to the garage. Our X-country skis are too long to fit in the cargo area without protruding out via the access door into the galley. Our downhill skis fit fine, but this concept would work for both. Lots of people have attached skis to hitch racks, ladders, roof or sides of their vans. My vision is similar to the 1UP bike rack mounted to a swing arm above the box without the need to beef up the load capacity of the box. I’d be open to other solutions, even if it means having them stick out in the galley. I sure hope some snow is coming to the north Lake Tahoe area this weekend

I modified a draft master bike rack. This shows a yak rak but I also attached a cargo box. It was funny because people at skibowl thought I was a shuttle. It worked but coated the skis in dirt. Box worked well.

I ran into a guy in Death Valley who had an Aluminess type box on the rear of his Sprinter that held his skis. Very nice setup for keeping things out of the elements and prying eyes. It wasn’t from Aluminess and I am sure it wasn’t cheap! He said the company stopped making them but I am sure the person Ray and I Know could make one.

I bought a cheap rear door mounted ladder, cut out all the rungs and welded in two yakima X bars and had it powdercoated. I love it. Doesn't interfere with opening door and I can even take off the ski racks and throw on a couple fork mounted bike trays in the summer (would only recommend road bikes for this though).

@KTMRIDER Thanks for the follow up. I would be interested in seeing such a setup. Any chance you have or could get a picture?
