towing a smart car

Does anyone tow a smart car with a 4x4 6.0 diesel EB?
Any advice or comments on the matter?
I'm considering a smart car and something to tow it with, any suggestions welcomed.
Thanks.

I'm sure it would feel like it's not even back there...
Our E350s diesels are rates for 10,000 lbs.
I've towed about 7,500 and hardly noticed it once at cruising speed.

I'm pretty sure it will fit in the back of an EB.

I would highly recomend a small lightweight aluminum trailer, like a Polaris UTV tailer (or any brand similarly size). Being able to move the empty trailer with the car is really nice.

And yeah, you could just build a rack and park it sideways on the back of the van...

Why not flat tow it? You'd have to research whether BlueOx or Roadmaster makes brackets and get that all set up but I routinely flat tow my cars and will never own another monstrous car trailer. Where are you going to park it when you're camping/etc?

I've flat towed a Jeep across the country with a 5.4 EB and only lost 1 mpg. You're diesel wouldn't even know it was there.

I would prefer flat towing but the downside is IF the towed vehicle has rolling problems... ugh.

Thanks Scotty I thought about it, but my concern is wear on the smartcar. I was hoping the trailer can be light enough to move around easily, perhaps that is not the case. You have a good point about what I will do with the trailer once parked. most of the time I guess leave it attached if there is room but otherwise I don't know yet. Thanks for all the comments!

How about a tow dolly? It's small enough and leaves your drive wheels off the ground.
