Vertical carry bike rack that clear a full size spare?

Hi all

I’m looking at switching out my tray-style bike rack (Thule T2+2) for something that carries the bikes vertically. With 4 bikes on the Thule my EB SMB is LONG

I’m concerned that with a full size spare (285) that the racks won’t work

Looking at a velocirax and a north shore.

Anyone with any experience?

If you shim out the lower wheel support on a LOLO rack, I think it might clear especially if you pull seat posts on that side.

Also nothing wrong with using a shirt hitch extender. Etrailer has a good anti rattle clamp which is basically a large unistrut beam-clamp.

I use a RakAttach and Northshore and it clears my 35x12.5 on an Alluminess carrier.

Do you have a Lolo rack. I'm seriously considering one. If you have one, is it the 4 or 6 and so you love it?

I had a draft master that cleared it all. I retro fitted it to hold a roof box vertical plus bikes. It cleared it all. I got asked if I was a resort shuttle a lot when I had it on. It held 4 or 6 bikes vertical IIRC. I'm not sure if they still make them. It tilted down and was a good quality design.

I also use a Draftmaster. I add an 8" hitch extension to clear the spare tire and Aluminess box.

Do you have any pictures of your setups? I have an Aluminess rear bumper with a spare tire and a box on swing arms on our 2019 Transit. Are you able to open the rear doors with the rack and bikes in place? A RakAttach does not allow me to open up the swing arm on the passenger side and open the rear doors. Looking for a solution, too.

I have a 2006 Ford e350 with an Aluminess rear bumper, cargo box and a full size spare on the back. I have the Draft master rack mounted on an 8 inch receiver hitch extension that I bought from U-Haul. The rack moves rearward and down for unloading. With the extension on and the rack moved back I can swing open my spare tire and open the doors. You can see how the Draft Master rack works by looking it up on YouTube.
