A quick word on the V10: having now owned both the 7.3 and the 6.8 I am all in on the 6.8. On my last trip through BC I averaged 13mpg of smooth, quiet, power; I am not sure how you could really ask for more than that from a 4x4 van of this size/weight.

I couldn't agree more. Just to give you an idea of it's potential, in the high performance marine world there is a company that builds an 700hp fuel injected motor (no turbo's or superchargers). That motor is one of the most sought after and highly valuable packages in the marine industry. It has almost twice the life before rebuild time as comparable 502's and 540's. Those applications are the most brutal, harsh, and demanding environments in the world. Imagine taking a sportsmobile and flooring it for a 1-3 hour run at 5K rpms with a 10,000lbs trailer on the back while its raining saltwater.

You know how many people are selling high performance marine diesel 7.3L V8? None.

I know there are a lot of people out there/on here that just love the 7.3 but it isn't even a consideration for me after having the 6.8. Too load, too much maintenance, PITA. Not into it.

The question has arisen from a few guys regarding the engine, to be clear, the engine was replaced with a new crate motor ~20000 miles ago, the engine was not rebuilt.

I have received a deposit and it appears the van is sold.

Now what????

Considerations:
- a slide in for my 2016 Ram 2500 8' bed
- build another E-van
- new Sprinter build

I would love input. The reason for getting rid of this van is two-fold: first, we are gonna have a second child (hopefully) and the layout in this van won't work. Second, I felt like I might as well get full use out of my Ram and get a slide-in. I would really appreciate opinions on slide-ins from the group. I know that they are a compromise but aren't they all. In particular, if anyone can recommend quality brands that will hold up to off-road use.

If I were you I would prob. go pop up slide in. One less set of well....everything... to insure, store, and maintain. Alaskan? As far as price for your van? I think you will get your asking price.....

Thanks Stayalert. Yeah, I am looking at slide in's and have it basically narrowed to a Four Wheel Camper or a Hallmark and I am leaning towards the Hallmark. There is a nice looking used Alaskan not too far from me and I'm thinking I should take a look at that as well; sure looks nice just worried about weight.
