I'm not sure I totally agree with that statement. The GTRV top doesn't have any bars to bend, is super easy to raise and lower, weighs much less, only adds an inch or so to the overall height, is easier to add an exhaust fan etc. It also has plenty of room for sleeping up top, probably less that the SMB, though, but not much. Due to the lay out of most GTRV's, there is no need to have standing room in the rear, and they have a built in TV antenna glassed into the top.
As for the price, well equipped vans are selling for stupid high prices these days due I suspect to a lack of supply among other reasons. I think the seller will get close to his asking price.
