2006 GMC Savana 2500 LBZ Duramax Diesel 4x4 212,123 miles and counting as I am driving it. No rust.
$69,500.00 Located minutes from Bozeman MT, gateway to Yellowstone park. Clear clean title, ready to go. Full of fuel.
Vin # 1GTGG252161169060
I just bought this van from a friend of mine, he bought it new and did the 4x4 conversion himself, he was heavily involved in the 4 wheel drive world and owned his own shop that specialized in 4x4 trucks and vans.
I purchased this van because of its off road ability and powerful, efficient, quiet engine, we sold our Ford 7.3 E350 van because it was so noisy and under powered compared to this Dura Max.
I knew this GMC needed some work to be perfect when I got it, and I had full intentions to completely customize it to my liking, but my work schedule is crazy now with my new job and the reality of it is that I have zero time to build this van how I want now, so regretfully I must sell it.
I have personally wheeled with this van and it is impressive to say the least. Thats the main reason I bought it.
Here is a list of what I know about it.
1 Front axle from a 2006 dodge 9.25 2500 with 4.56 gears, Dodge abs sensors mated to GMC harness
2 Rear axle stock dana 70 super, 4.56 gears open diff
3 Steering is from a Dodge, has been upgraded = tie rod and drag link, 4 spline pitman arm is off an early 80’s dodge truck
4 Four link front end is ballistic fab with rebuildable rod ends and bushings.
5 Rear springs are custom Alcan with blocks
6 Transmission is a 4L85E with rear housing removed, output shaft cut, a “freeze type plug” inserted where 2wd housing had a plug with a small hole. Advanced adapter clocking ring installed for adapter to t case, stock GMC transmission mount.
7 Transfer case is from a 2006 3/4 ton chevy truck np261, northwest fab slip yoke eliminator installed, case protector and rebuild kit new chain. Shift pattern is = Forward-4lo-netraul-2wd-all the way back 4w high
8 Driveshafts are custom Tom Woods.
9 Engine-LBZ with a Kennedy driver side straight exhaust manifold
10 Pro Fab eye down pipe, Diamond Eye and Magnaflow 4” back exhaust, van has the sought after y bridge that is van specific, Custom after cooler pipe to intake, pass side up pipe. No tune on motor all of this was done for smooth balanced flow and mpg.
11 Audio is a Kenwood Excellon deck and door speakers, GPS, Bose amplified sub
12 ARB fridge
13 Solar panel is 180 watt with a 185 AMP hour AGM battery, with solar controller, this is stand alone and could be hooked up the the vans stock batteries if needed.
14 New GMC OEM turbo installed
15 EGR delete with stock parts in a box
16 BD exhaust manifold installed
17 Recaro seats in the front, no back seats.
18 New Full size bed with 80/20 frame and storage cabinets

29 Large rear Aluminess box for outside storage
30 Custom fender flairs, not sure where he got them.
31 Fuel 20 inch wheels
32 2.5 Sway Away front coil overs with remote reservoirs
33 Bilstein steering stabilizer
34 New Bilstein rear shocks
35 8 foot OZ Trail awning
I just changed the oil and air filter on 8-29-20
The van starts and runs very well, engine is very powerful and quiet, starts instantly and runs very smooth.
My driving impressions and pros are:
1 Can see out very well as the van sits high
2 Remarkably quiet and powerful
3 Drives like a 4 link truck with 8 inches of lift on 37’s, that being said it does rather well for its size
4 Wonderfull turning radius
5 Great gas milage 18-20 MPG on HWY
6 Comfortable seats
7 Crawls over anything you put in front of it
8 Small enough to fit on tight trails but large enough to travel comfortably
9 Unicorn of a build, you won’t see one like it on the road.
Things on my list that are cons, or I wanted to change or repair:
1 Needs front rotors soon as I feel a slight vibration, but I am picky
2 Van is used, has scratch’s and dents, not show room new but presents very well and people constantly question me about it when I drive it.
3 Radiator has a small coolant ooze as well as thermostat housing o-ring and bottom hose, but coolant is not hitting the ground, but would recommend replacing soon. I would feel comfortable taking on road trip as is.
4 Check engine light is on because of the EGR delete, a EFI live turner would take care of this
5 I was going to install front locking hubs, and I thought the front drive shaft could be balanced, again I am picky
6 E-Brake needs to be adjusted
7 ABS light comes on because the ABS rings on axles are not the same, I was told a EFI turner could correct this, but brakes work normal.
8 Airbag light is on because the previous owner installed Recaro seats.
9 Rear bumper swing latch’s are not the greatest, I had on my list to fab something better.
10 Needs rear trim pieces by headliner replaced and or new clips installed
