One consideration is winter camping. The penthouse is much colder in the winter, though some use insulation and that appears to help. That is a plus in the summer, as it is much cooler up top. If you only plan on camping in good weather then the penthouse is my favorite place to sleep. If you are considering camping in freezing temps, the top can be pretty chilly!
