Why so funny? A 4x4 conversion alone these days is well over their asking price. I know it's got a weak engine but it has low miles. At first glance it seems like a reasonable deal to me.

First it's 22 years old.
Nearly every thing should be replaced other than what the seller stated.
Motor & trans are probably the least desired config for 4X4.
And the age, unless meticulously maintained the rust... it can't be good.
I wouldn't pay more than $5k for that... but everyone has an opinion.

The Craigslist ad lists the engine as a "4.9L V6 " Ford actually offered a 4.9 liter inline six in the 1994 Econoline.
The Ford 300 straight six (4.9) is a very capable engine known for its longevity , ease of maintenance and abundance of low end torque.
UPS used this very same engine to power their fleet of brown delivery vans.
Bbasso You are probably thinking of the 4.2 liter Essex V6 that was introduced in the Econoline in 1997 , which is underpowered for such a heavy vehicle .

or it could be the 4.9 liter V8, as opposed to V6. I think. Pretty sure the 302 was the small V8 in this vintage. But based on the ad, who knows?

I think i had a brain fart with regards to the motor...
But it's still an aged vehicle with very little to offer imho.
