anyone have a heavy duty steering box laying around?

mine broke yesterday. when that breaks, you gots no steering

im in the middle of a home remodel and dont have time to go crawl around in the snow for a replacement atm and money is tight with remodel, so cant afford a new replacement. just seeing if anyone has one laying around they would be willing to sell for a decent price. pm or post if you can help. thanks in advance!

this would be for a 2003 eb 7.3. cargo and from what i can gather theres 2 versions. a 36 spline heavy duty and a 32 spline light duty. i assume i need the hd, but havent had a chance to verify that yet. hoping i can get down to where i had it towed to and find out for sure today.

The break is 4200 FAWR. If your FAWR is 4200# or less, you need the 32-spline box.

FWIW a reman is $88 on RockAuto, but there is a $100 core charge.

Driver door sticker on the B-pillar tells you your factory FAWR.

If you want a really good steering box, check out Red Top in Seattle. I had bought a reman that was always only OK, and finally got sloppy (50K), then got a Red Top...what a difference.

http://www.redheadsteeringgears.com/

I am not affiliated, but it was one of the most significant improvements in steering for my econoline .... Everyone comments on the poor steering of the vehicle and this is a key...I drive in Mexico and need precision
