Re: East Coast SMB Wanted

Thanks for the link but this one does not have forward facing rear seats. Gotta have those for the kids. The EB 50 or RB 50 setup is what we are looking for.

Re: East Coast SMB Wanted

Yeah I did make it to the expo but not real happy with Sportsmobile for two reasons.

1) They only had owner vehicles so you could not go into them at all. One had the doors open but the other was not even unlocked for you to see inside. I went to get an idea of inside dimensions and this was tough from the outside.

2) Since they now only sell the Sprinter and Nissan why would they not have one of those done up for people to look at? They did have a stock AWD Sprinter again with the doors locked but it was like they were not even trying to sell SMB.

Others like Earthroamer, Tiger, etc, etc, all had vehicles you could get into, open drawers, etc.

I hated to spend $25 to get into the show to only be told by SMB that "you can look inside but don't touch"

There were other cool things to look at but my favorite was the Unimog in the parking lot. Not even part of the show.

Re: East Coast SMB Wanted

There were lots of people camped all over in them. The rain confused the camping situation but there were a lot of SMBs there to look at, almost all customers though, not Sportsmobile's own. I probably showed mine to 20 or more folks. Not sure what to tell you about SMB except its a long way from Fresno Ca to Asheville!

EB is not really a killer for parking because the wheelbase doesn't change in Ford so your turning radius is the same. Parallel doesn't matter either because you're either LONG or LONGER, so no fitting in any normal space with either (backup cam highly recommended).

No one from SMB North showed that I know of. That is interesting now that I think about it. Alan Feld and his wife were there. Carl was there, and it was cool to see Dave from Aluminess and his wife there too.

I've for lots of pics and updates from the show but in iut of town this week and not gonna try to do it on my phone.

Re: East Coast SMB Wanted

I think the extra inches in an EB do make parking a bit more challenging sometimes (I have an EB, and have also spent a good amount of time driving RB vans), especially for street parking. That being said, I've always managed to find someplace to park.

Re: East Coast SMB Wanted

The wife talking here - I think my husband kind of hoped with RB that it would fit in our garage, but I do not think it would anyway.
We currently have EB at our shop he drives, but I guess wanted something smaller, so I could maybe be able to deal with it easily.
And yes if I drive it, than I will be parking in the end of the parking lot where there is nobody around me either way if EB or RB.

And thanks to some of you guys he saw a lot of sportsmobiles in Asheville and got a lot of info out of you too!

Again on the west coast, bit has quite a bit of the things you're looking for. You could most likely add the third captains chair on this one too if you needed.
We got it!!! Thank you Mikracer! We drove it home from Fresno and now it is at at the shop for some expected repair.

Can not wait to use it more.
