For Sale - 1989 E250 2x4 with pop top - Asking $5000

About the van. I purchased this van in July 2008 (site unseen) and drove it back home to Florida. It made it with no problems at all and I was immediately in love with it. My family's lifestyle has changed and I reluctantly need to part with my man fort. This would be a great van for someone that wants to get into an SMB inexpensively.

Condition:

The Good:
Its an SMB!
The van is in very good condition. The 302 EFI engine runs strong and shifts are very snappy out of the C6. There is currently 118,000 miles on the odometer and I beleive it still has a lot of life left in it.

I had the entire top sprayed with line-x. It looks nice and is super durable.
Power windows work.
Power locks work.
Microwave works.
New converter.
Fridge works.
New batteries.

The Bad:
Cab A/C does not work and needs to be converted to r134a.
Fuel gauge sending unit is not working on second tank.
It is equiped with star cool option but it is not working.
Cruise control does not work.
The screens in the pop top are gone due to deteriation. I have tried locally to find someone to repair them but so far no luck.

The Ugly:
Due to it's age the fabrics are quite dated and the front seats are sun bleached. There are no tears or rips but do look dated.

Images of the van can be seen here on the site under my gallery (jakdaddy32)

Any interested party can contact me here through the site. I will be checking communications diligently and can provide more detailed pictures as requested.

Thanks,
Jack

Good thought about thesamba billwilson! I cruise that site often becuase I have a non camper vanagon also. I'm a nut about vans in general. In fact I would to trade my SMB for a westy if I could so that may be a great place for that.

Zaskoda here are some interior pics.

Proof positive that we'll let just about anybody post here.

Actually that sounds like a good deal, there has got to be a Westfalia owner who wants more space out there... be sure to let us know how it goes if you wind up trading.

From my experiance on Tha Samba
when i merly MENTIONED trading my Westy for SMB
sheesh

however i got a few PM's from members secretly wishing me well
also thier deep desire to upgrade also

I am pretty sure there are more than a few that will trade Coolness for Comfort, speed and AC !

This is the most complete SMB of that date I've seen so far. A few minor differences and I think I'd be extremely interested. I don't think you'll have trouble selling it.

Ouch!!!! I guess I deserved that and was a little out line considering where this posting is. In all honesty, there is no comparison between an SMB and a westy. The SMB is a much better vehicle ( I have had both ). I joined this forum shortly after getting my SMB and have enjoyed browsing through the various postings to help debug issues and see what others have enjoyed doing to and with their SMBs. Thanks for the comments!

Hi Jakdaddy,

I don't know if you're still on here, but I think I just bought this van. I'm in Carson City, Nevada, so - if it is yours - it's traveled quite a ways. A number of things you listed here are still the same.

Cab A/C still doesn't work.
Fuel gauge sending unit is still not working on second tank.
I don't know about the star cool option so I'll have to look into that.
I haven't tested the Cruise control yet. The van is being looked over by my
mechanic, but I'll ask him about that.
The screens in the pop top are still gone due to deterioration. Someone did put a
long bungee cord around the pop top so when I pull the top down, I don't have
to worry about tucking the top inside as the bungee cord does that for me. If
that was your idea - thanks!

The van is still the same color, but it now has a large ding in the sliding door on the passenger side. Nothing major and easy to fix. Cabinets all look exactly the same and someone added a light rack on the roof over the cab.

If this was yours, thanks for selling it so that it made its way to me.
