For sale: 2006 SMB 4x4. Original owner, extended bed E350

For sale:
2006 SMB E350 4x4 Van

The kids are almost grown and my wife and I are entering a new stage of life that requires more space and comfort for road trips and camping. It is time to sell the SMB. I’m the original owner. This van has given our family many years of great backcountry adventures and priceless memories. I have cared for it like a fourth child and would love to see it bring similar experiences and memories to another owner.

The van’s interior is configured with 5 captain’s chairs. If that isn’t your preference, it is a great platform for someone willing and able to build-out their own interior configuration.

The van has been serviced regularly by Hubert at South Bay Auto Care in Lawndale, CA. Hubert is an authorized SMB warranty service center and has more than a decade of experience maintaining and servicing SMBs. The SMB has been the most reliable vehicle I’ve ever owned. The motor is 100% stock with about 123,000 miles and I’ve used Amsoil diesel fuel additive with every fill-up since new. It runs very well and the delta between engine coolant and oil temperature is typically in the 2-7deg area. The EGR needed to be cleaned once, a cracked glow plug wire needed to be replaced and I had the turbo rebuilt by Sunrise Ford in North Hollywood at 117,000 miles. That’s all.

2006 E350-EB SMB 4x4 conversion
SMB penthouse roof (manual lift)
6.0psd motor, stock with about 123,000 miles
Atlas transfer case
Dynatrac pro rock front axle
Dana D70 full float rear axle (4:10 gearing)
Dynaloc front hubs
ARB lockers front and rear, with onboard air
Fox 2.0 high performance shocks
Magnaflow 4” exhaust
Firestone ride rite dual control air bags with internal gauge and control panel
Suburban interior heater with onboard propane
Rear passenger area A/C system
Aluminess front bumper, rear tire carrier and storage box
Hella backup, fog and front spot lights
Rear sway bar
ATX Ledge 17” wheels
Toyo Open Country AT2 tires (mileage about 10,000)

Known issues:

I installed a new AGM 4D house battery about two years ago but it was never properly connected to the van’s charging/electrical system.

The SMB installed high-idle switch needs to be fixed.

Price is $35,000 OBO

I drive the van weekly.

I personally think you should ask 45,000 its worth every penny of that. One owner and all service records 6.0 4x4 diesel come on man I bet the first person who messaged you buys it. I got one just like it and it’s a great SMB

Pricing something as unique as an SMB is difficult. I found several comparable vans around my area in the $30-40k price range. There were several others with fully built out interiors in the $50-55k price range too. But those vans seem to have been on the market for a long time and I don't have the desire to sustain a lengthy sales effort.

We'll see what happens.

I too would think it will get scooped up at that price. Looks clean as a pin.
I have just picked up an '06 cargo E-350. Any chance you might post more (as many as your willing to) pictures? Collecting design ideas before I get started. I'd understand if you didn't as I'm not even a tire kicker at this point.
Thanks either way.
